It was in the year 1949 when the then state of Madras got a new identity for itself. Madras Institute of Technology was established by Mr.C.Rajam, a well known entrepreneur. Since then MIT continues to be a pioneer in the field of engineering and technology.The broad-based, theory- oriented education attempts to enable students of MIT to handle with skill and success a wide variety of technical problems. MIT has remained an important center of engineering education and earned an excellent reputation both in India and abroad.MIT has produced some of the greatest personalities like Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam, Dr.K.B.Chandrasekhar and Mr.Sujatha.
